Strength to Strength Sisters welcomed Laura Kuruvilla to share her journey in the area of modesty and headcovering and addresses some of the pressing questions that surround us in this age.

Why does God want us to dress modestly? How do we even come up with a definition of modesty? Is modesty defined by the culture in which we live? Are pants permissible for women?

Join us to explore God’s heart for his daughters on this practical subject.

An interactive question-and-answer period follows.

I’ve been married to my best friend, Finny, for sixteen years, and God has given us eight children, six boys and two girls, who range in age from fifteen to two.

We live in the greater Boston area. Most of my time is spent homeschooling, investing in our children, and helping my husband. But I also seek to serve our church and encourage other women on this journey.

I was raised in a very liberal church and first heard the gospel in my twenties. At that point I was in the middle of graduate school with the goal of becoming an English professor. God had other plans.

My passions include: seeing people set free from the grip of Satan and the world; especially, seeing women set free from the world’s expectations of beauty and career; testifying to the value of a mother who chooses to stay home with her children; reading aloud to my children and finding good children’s books; and seeing God’s glory in what He has created through gardening and hiking with my family.
