Strength to Strength Sisters welcomed Patty Miller to discuss the behind-the-scenes experience of one who supports others’ ministries.
Serving from behind—what does that mean in today’s world of women’s rights and strident individualism? A woman of God has value and merit in the eyes of God regardless of her place in society or degree of visibility. Instead of oppressing women, Christianity gave women freedom and dignity that was unknown in the culture of the day. This responsibility comes with instructions on how to use this strength in a Christlike way, from a specific position in relation to Christ, His Church, and the men who are our authority. When we occupy that position in its fullness, we find peace, joy, and fulfillment. The speaker will share biblical examples and personal experiences of serving God from behind.
An interactive question-and-answer period follows.

Patty Miller lives with her husband, Gary, and the youngest of their four children. Having lived in California, Ohio, and Washington, they now enjoy the blended congregation of a church plant in southwestern Idaho. Daughter of a minister and wife of a deacon and author, she has experienced the behind-the-scenes of the “support team” that helps keep ministries going.
She is learning to appreciate God’s strength as she deals with the challenges that come with longtime health limitations, and reaching for peace when it means staying home while sending her husband out for ministry.
They enjoy hosting friends and strangers alike, wondering who God will bring next Patty enjoys old books, milk chocolate, and grandchildren—not necessarily in that order.
